Human Performance Dynamics LLC Triathlon Training
Most triathlon coaches agree there are four or five disciplines associated with triathlon: the Swim, Bike, and Run, plus Recovery and/or Nutrition.
I would add a sixth discipline, Decision Making. Training for triathlon is complex and overwhelming for even the experienced athlete, but especially for the uninitiated. Many triathletes think grit and extraordinary effort will get them from start to finish in the shortest possible time.
I have found that good, intelligent decision making in the design of your training program and in the daily execution of your training is the foundation of good performances on race day.
Grit and extraordinary efforts more often than not lead to overtraining, injury, and/or subpar performances.
Good decision making in designing athlete specific training programs and good decision making on a day to day basis when executing the training program is the key to intelligent training and getting the best performance out of yourself on race day!
